Information for New Parents*

Welcome!

These leaflets have been written especially for you, as a new family within our school community, in order to help you adjust to life here.

We realise that new families arriving at ISH Primary come from many countries and have diverse backgrounds. For some, it is your first experience of living in a wet, temperate climate. Others may have lived in The Netherlands but are unfamiliar with The Hague. Furthermore, it can be a little strange coming to a new school, and there always seem to be so many questions to ask.

We are also aware of the large amount of information available to you as a new resident of The Hague. We have therefore put together only the essential (and more interesting) information needed and given you the details where more information or help can be found.  We hope that these leaflets will answer at least some of the questions you have.

Of course, if you have any questions please do get in touch with any of the PTA committee members, your class teacher, class parent representatives, the school office, or any “old” parent.

Please note that this is a working document, to be updated and changed according to the needs of the parents.  As the information is obtained from various sources, we cannot guarantee its accuracy. Do let us know if there are any corrections to be made. These leaflets are meant to be a guide and we do not endorse any products or parties. If you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Alternatively, contact Cheng.edit@gmail.com

The leaflets can be downloaded here:

=>Info 1 gives you a quick orientation of the school and its immediate surroundings.

=>Info 2 is a collection of quick tips from ‘old’ parents to help you settle in The Hague. It lists the organisations, websites and other publications from which you may find more detailed information and help.

=>Info 3 contains practical information and more tips and comments from parents to help you adjust to life here.

We look forward to meeting you soon.
