There is a weekly chess club for both Secondary and Primary students. Regular youth chess competitions are held in The Hague and surrounding area. For more information contact: boyfrank_gzg@yahoo.co.uk
In order to provide a more challenging environment for students who are interested in mathematics and to encourage and reward excellence in mathematics the Maths Department runs two clubs:
# the Junior Maths club for MYP students
# the Senior Maths club for the IB students
Both clubs meet for one hour every week and everyone who likes maths is invited to join and participate. Contact the Subject Area Leader for Maths for more information.
Students from the maths clubs regularly attend international competitions abroad run by ECIS, the European Council of International Schools, and by ISMTF, the International School Mathematics Teachers Foundation. Selection of the students attending the competitions is based on their mathematical talent and their active participation in the maths clubs.
In addition to the above competitions, the Maths Department participates in the Kangaroo Maths Competition every year which is open to all ages and mathematical abilities, i.e., students in both Primary and Secondary.
