The school’s Global Issues Network group is a student-run extra-curricular activity which aims to raise awareness among our ISH community for the need to advance the UN Millennium Goals, and to take appropriate action at local level (school and wider The Hague community, as well as in national and in international cooperation, to support this.
Greening the ISH: We are going for the GreenFlag school label in 2012. For this ISH needs to show We Care about our Environment. Lots of great work last year needs to be followed up. Work needs to be done on GreenSpace upkeep, Recycling Project, Energy reduction projects, Less Traffic on Campus project, Green Health activities.
International Peace and Justice: The Hague claims to be the Capital of... With so many institutes and government agencies working on this, what can ISH do to promote it? Plenty of resources right on our doorstep.
Join to set up an International Politics club, continue our Human Rights group, re-start the Amnesty International group, help form links with organisations in The Hague for visits, speakers, internships.
FeminISH is a new intitiative by students who aim to look at promoting Equal Rights for women around the world. Great differences in status between men and women can still be seen regarding treatment, income, place in society, career perspectives etc. A challenge to raise awareness about these issues in a richly multi-cultural environment such as here at ISH!
Continue work on our International School Relief Fund, with charity events raising money to go to schools around the world that need basic teaching materials,repairs to facilities, contact between their and our students, etc.
