Our children follow a structured language programme based on the Literacy Framework for England and Wales. We provide a phonic programme for early readers, spelling, handwriting, individualised and group reading and writing for different purposes. 'Real books' are used as exemplar materials for reading and writing and a love of language is our aim. The multinational nature of our school is reflected in the choice of texts on offer. We also have a wide range of books in many different languages.
Children bring books home from the school reading scheme and the school library on a regular weekly basis.
There are numerous libraries in The Hague. For the addresses, consult the telephone directory or the 'Gouden Gids' (Yellow Pages). Many of them have books in English and other languages in addition to Dutch reading material.
