The Library:
The Library is a place for reading, studying, and researching. It is staffed by helpful people, two librarians, and two assistants, who will be glad to assist you. Parent and student volunteers also help out in the Library.
The Library’s collection is mainly comprised of books, but also includes videos, audio-visual materials, CD-ROM’s and computers. You will be able to find library materials with the help of an automated catalog. This system is also used for checking out books at the main desk. If items are not properly checked out, the security alarm will sound.

Since the Library is a place of work and study, just as in a classroom, please do not talk loudly, drink or eat, chew gum, or wear hats.

Borrowing of Library materials:
Present your school identification card at the main desk (if you are a new student) or know your student number.
Borrow books only for yourself and do not exchange library books with other students.
You may borrow most books for 3 weeks, some for only one.
IB Students only may borrow audio-visual items (videos, DVDs) for one week with teacher’s permission. TOK books may be borrowed for one week only.
The number of books and other library materials that can be borrowed depends on your grade level:

  • Years 7-9 may borrow up to 3 items at any one time;
  • Years 10-11 may borrow up to 6 items at any one time;
  • Years 12-13 may borrow up to 12 items at any one time.

Additional books may be borrowed for special projects with the permission of the librarian.
If a book is not returned on or before the date stamped, a fine will be charged at €0.05 per day per item.
If a book you want is checked out by someone else, you may reserve it in your name so it will be available for you when it is returned. Your name will be listed on the main door if the book is available. Please pick it up at the main desk then.
A book can be renewed, only if there is no outstanding fine or reservation for that item.
You are personally responsible for the materials you check out.
If a book or other library material is lost, damaged or not returned to the library at the end of the school year, you will be charged a fine of €12.00 plus the appropriate amount for its replacement.

Using Computers:
The computers in the Library are meant for students’ educational use, such as searching the catalog, and using various CD-ROM’s or the Internet. Please follow the school-wide rules for computer use. If you need help using any of the computers or software, please ask for assistance at the main desk. Please print with care and do not waste paper!

Using the Photocopier:
A photocopier in the library is intended for copying of library materials only. Copies can be made free of charge.
Using the Catalogue:
