Placement in Secondary

Thank you for your interest in The International School of The Hague.

Students qualify for places if they are:

  • children from other countries who are part of the mobile international community
  • children from Dutch families who have been internationally mobile and need to be educated in an international school to ensure continuity of education.

We have placement tests for all students applying for a place in Year 8 and above. These are internal tests designed to ensure that students are placed in classes suitable to their knowledge and ability, and also, in the case of Years 12 and 13, that they are capable of completing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at the level chosen.

For Years 8 – 11 the placement tests are for English and Mathematics, as well as language tests in French, German, or Spanish for basic to native proficiency levels.

For Year 12, the first IB year, placement tests include languages, Mathematics and Science.

Students who are not yet in the Netherlands can usually sit the placement tests in their current school, who will administer the test and forward them to us by arrangement. 

ISH administers its own admission tests in English and Mathematics for children entering Years 8, 9, 10 and 11, and language placement tests for students with basic to native proficiency in French, German or Spanish.

For Year 12, our first IB Year, the testing sessions include Languages, Mathematics and Science.

Our goal at every level is to make applicants as comfortable as possible, so that they will do their best work.

 

International Applicants

Applicants to Year 8 and above mayl have their ISH Admissions Tests sent directly to their  current school to administer. In such instances the current school will fax and mail the tests back to the Admissions Office.

To apply for a place for your child in Secondary, please complete an Application Form – this may be downloaded either or by completing the form contained in the Information Pack. We require one completed form for each child. Please click on the following link to be re-directed to our download section.

 

Application for enrollment in Secondary includes:

  • a fully completed Application Form
  • a copy of passport of the applicant
  • a passport size photograph of the applicant
  • copies of academic records for the previous three (3) school years (in English)
  • copies of medical records (if applicable)
  • €300.00 - Registration Fee
