A message from the Principals
On behalf of The International School of The Hague (ISH) we would like to welcome you to our school website.
ISH has been serving the international community in The Hague for many years, firstly as a secondary school and then in 2003 with the addition of our primary school. In the Primary section we offer the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for students between the ages 4 to 11 (Reception to Year 6). In 2009 we became the first school in the world to be awarded accreditation at the highest level (‘mastering’) by IPC. In our Secondary School we offer the International Baccalaureate Organisation Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students between the ages of 11 to 16 (Years 7 - 11) and the International Baccalaureate Organisation Diploma Programme (IB), between the ages of 16 to 18 (Years 12 and 13). Our Secondary School has also recently been fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS).
We are very proud of the quality of education we provide for students of all nationalities and ages. Currently we have 1300 children aged between 4 and 18, 86 nationalities, and around 55 different native languages. We aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and principled young people and lifelong learners. Our beliefs are reflected in our mission statement "Learning - The Heart of The International School of the Hague"
ISH is a member of the Rijnlands Lyceum group of schools, a non-profit making educational foundation which has schools in Wassenaar, Oegstgeest, and Sassenheim in the Netherlands, and branches in Aberdeen in Scotland, Cobham in England, Davos in Switzerland, Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, and Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as educational partnerships in other locations worldwide. In primary education we work in partnership with the Eerste Nederlandse Montessori School (ENMS).
As part of a Dutch foundation, we are subsidised by the Government. This enables our fee structure to be extremely competitive. We are part of an association of similarly funded schools throughout the country, and together we form the organisations of the Dutch International Secondary Schools (DISS), and the Dutch International Primary Schools (DIPS), which provide benchmarking, staff development programmes, and a vehicle for inspection.
The Hague is a vibrant international city, and one that is home to a sizeable, but mobile, international community. We have many years experience of welcoming new families and helping children to settle quickly, and have a range of support mechanisms in place.
However good it is, a website can only provide a first impression. It cannot let you appreciate the ethos or atmosphere in the same way that a visit can. We invite you to experience firsthand what we are all about. Our Admissions Department will be pleased to make arrangements or answer any questions that you may have.
We hope to meet you and your children in the future.
