Welcome from the Primary Principal
Welcome to The International School of The Hague (ISH) Primary School. I hope you enjoy browsing our informative website to gain a greater understanding of our vibrant and dynamic learning community. Our aim at ISH is to develop in all our children the capacity for life-long learning by developing in them the skills, concepts, attitudes and knowledge necessary to be reflective, critical thinkers and problem solvers. We are proud of the international mindedness of all our children and celebrate the fact that we have nearly 80 nationalities speaking more than 60 languages.
Many of the careers we are preparing our children for do not currently exist and require knowledge we do not yet have. Our role is to make our children confident to successfully deal with the unknown. We achieve this by providing a nurturing, challenging and interactive environment where they feel happy and safe. The children are encouraged to challenge themselves and take risks in the knowledge that there are no ’mistakes’ just opportunities for further learning.
We value the importance of the creative and performing arts and the role they play in not only positively impacting on academic achievement, but also in developing, amongst other things, self-esteem, confidence, collaboration, appreciation and enjoyment.
The partnership between home and school plays a vital role in the learning process and we actively encourage parents and carers to visit the school regularly to facilitate this relationship.
The excellent teaching and non-teaching staff have high expectations of themselves and the children within our care. As a community we are motivated and committed to continuous improvement in a supportive environment. This will ensure that our children have strong foundations on which to build when they continue their learning journey at the end of their time at ISH.
