Following the decision of the current HR Advisor to the International School of The Hague Secondary School (ISH-Sec) to follow her dream and move to the Caribbean,

HR ADVISOR – ISH Secondary School

Full time 1.0 FTE

Workplace and environment

ISH-Sec is located in the south of the city of The Hague in Kijkduin. The School currently has 1,130 students from over 85 nationalities with a 141 teaching staff from over 35 countries. ISH-Sec follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula and is a reference globally as a leading IB school. The language of the school is English and on site you will be working in close collaboration with the Principal and Vice-Principal who have the responsibility of recruiting both academic and administrative staff. There is also a great deal of interaction with the PA to the Principal and the timetabler in the preparation for each academic year. Whilst on site at ISH-Sec, you are also available for staff that may have queries and questions regarding personal HR matters.

You will report to the HR manager and will be part of the HR team, a group of ten staff who are located at the Rijnlands’ central office located in Wassenaar. As part of the HR team, you will receive support from the HR assistants in support of your work for ISH-Sec. Given the international nature of recruitment for the school, the vast majority of onboarding and relocation takes place in July and August. This being the case holiday options for the summer are limited to following two weeks: July 24th – August 4th.

Core Tasks

The position of HR advisor presents exciting and worthwhile challenges. The core tasks include:

  • Advising the leadership of the ISH-Sec on legislation, the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education (CAO VO) and the appropriate application of these procedures.
  • Have detailed knowledge of internal policies of the Rijnlands: Safety, Health and Welfare, Absenteeism, and Performance Management and Appraisal.
  • Be part of the core team in terms of interviews where appropriate and the subsequent clarification of employment conditions and grading proposals.
  • Responsible for recruitment procedures, diploma recognition of foreign teachers (Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs, DUO), residence permits (IND) and fiscal aspects (i.e. 30% tax ruling).
  • Contribute to HR policies and project within the Rijnlands foundation. You will write policy papers in English and Dutch with an excellent construction and without any spelling errors.

Personal qualities

As an expert HR advisor you have relevant experience in an international (school) environment. Your personal skills will require an excellent command of English (written and spoken) and the flexibility to meet the demands of HR in an international context coupled with local legislation. In addition, your qualifications should be commensurate to that of HBO in Human Resource Management. The position is very much to ensure that the ISH-Sec functions without hindrance within the auspices of the Rijnlands foundation.

Flexibility, a solution-oriented approach, an intrinsic passion for the role of HR, coupled with a good sense of humour is desirable. Dutch Law requires a certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) for any position in Secondary education and this is a requirement to work for the Rijnlands.

Terms and conditions

This is an administrative position and as such is placed on the CAO VO – Scale 9.

Scale Range from €2,386 - €3,619 dependent on qualifications and experience

In addition you will receive a 8% holiday bonus, year end bonus (7.4%), contribution towards travel expenses and the ABP pension scheme. Furthermore staff are given a number of options for tax benefits regarding trade union dues, the costs of sports (fitness) membership fees, the purchase of a bicycle (for commuting purposes) and a travel allowance (cafeteria scheme). Technical Teaching Assistant (TOA) 0,8 fte

The International School of The Hague is looking for a pro-active, hands-on Technical Teaching Assistant (TOA), who will work in the Science Department of the Secondary School.

We are looking for a general Science laboratory assistant to work with a team of teachers and students, aged between 11 and 18.

Ideally the candidate should have a background in the field of Biology and is also flexible and ready to help in the Chemistry and Physics subject areas.

Desired Qualifications:

  • The candidate has good computer skills, including full range of Microsoft office package.
  • Previous experience in a TOA- role.
  • Can work under pressure and is diplomatic and professional at all times.
  • Is able to prioritize, is flexible and has a good general education.
  • Is able to speak Dutch; there is contact and liaison with Dutch companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets up practicals and assists during lessons.Helps out with the Science club.
  • Is responsible for the science labs and keep the labs tidy.
  • Works closely together with all related teams at the ISH.

Tasks:

  • Supports and assists the Science teachers.
  • Oversees the cleaning of the Science labs.
  • Sets up practical and orders science materials.

We offer

A temporary appointment, due to maternity leave. The position is based on the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Secondary Education.

It is a part time position (0,8 fte) and the salary scale is 6; the step on this scale will depend on age and experience (CAO VO).

  • School Psychologist, full- time: 1 fte,

Job purpose:

  • To provide a high-quality counselling service to students experiencing a wide range of emotional problems (individually and in groups);
  • To provide support, guidance and advice to parents, carers and the school;
  • To observe confidentiality and to support the school’s endeavor to provide excellent teaching and learning for all students;
  • Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people;
  • Performing research and developing policies at the level of the school;
  • Performing psychological assessments independently, using appropriate testing materials and analysing test results for the purpose of advice and support;
  • Advising and coaching teachers in group dynamics and dealing with complex behavior in the class;
  • Liaising with external psychological support organizations and aiding with the referral process;
  • Working preventatively; contributing to the development of the mentor program;
  • Dealing with crisis situations and working together with relevant members of staff in the event of a crisis.

Professional/personal characteristics preferred:

  • The ability to develop and promote a positive relationship with students;
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong listening and communication skills;
  • A non-judgmental outlook and a willingness to work with all kinds of people. A sensitivity to the importance of cultural differences and international communities;
  • The ability to manage appropriate professional boundaries in the relationships with students and their families;
  • An understanding of your own attitudes and responses; reflection skills;
  • A belief that all students are able to make positive changes;
  • An understanding of confidentiality issues and ability to implement the confidentiality policy;
  • An ability to cope with emotional situations and to remain calm under pressure;
  • An innovative, enthusiastic, energetic and flexible approach;
  • Collaborative working style and strong work ethic;
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload, and also be a team player;
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English;
  • A working knowledge of Dutch would be an advantage;
  • Personal experience of living internationally.

Qualifications/knowledge/experience:

  • Relevant school- or child & adolescent- psychologist qualification, minimum university level, or an equivalent international qualification (must be recognized in the Netherlands);
  • Experience with the needs of high school age students and their families;
  • To keep up to date with development in the field of psychology;
  • Broad theoretical (and practical) knowledge of (the developments in) the area of expertise in remedial education, orthopedagogics or psychology and of student support;
  • Knowledge of behavior patterns of the student(s);
  • Knowledge/experience working with an international student population;
  • Knowledge and implementation of the code of ethics for psychologists.

Part-time schoonmaker (0.3125 fte)

Organisatie:

The International School of The Hague heeft een doorlopend internationaal curriculum voor kinderen van 4 tot 18 jaar. Onze studenten zijn Engelstalig, de voertaal is dan ook Engels. The International school of The Hague is onderdeel van Stichting Het Rijnlands Lyceum. De stichting staat voor toonaangevend onderwijs. De Stichting verenigt zes scholen op algemene grondslagen en biedt Nederlands, tweetalig, Europees en internationaal onderwijs.

Wij zoeken per direct een schoonmaker voor de middag/avonduren. De grondslag is bij wijze van proef met uitzicht op vast. Reguliere schoonmaaktijden zijn elke werkdag van 17.00-19.30 uur. U werkt in een team van ongeveer 14 personen welke wordt geleid door een floormanager. Indien nodig kan er tijdens schoolvakanties of in het weekend ook een beroep op u worden gedaan.

De werkzaamheden zijn:

  • Het dagelijks reinigen van de toiletten en aan-en bijvullen van toiletbenodigdheden;
  • Het beheren van de toiletbenodigdheden van de voorraad schoonmaakmiddelen;
  • Het reinigen van de vloeren met behulp van diverse apparatuur;
  • Het periodiek behandelen van de vloeren;
  • Het op aanwijzing reinigen van specifieke lokalen, zoals computeren en science lokalen;
  • Het periodiek reinigen van gordijnen en vitrages;
  • Het leegmaken van papier- en afvalbakken;
  • Het doorgeven van mankementen;
  • Het melden van storingen en defecten;
  • Het bijhouden van de uitgevoerde werkzaamheden;
  • Het onderhouden van de schoonmaakapparatuur.
