secondary MR

By law, every school in the Netherlands is linked with a medezeggenschrapsraad (MR).  This is a participation council, where elected representatives of teachers, students and their parents are consulted by the school management over matters concerning the management of the school. As prescribed by law, there are separate MR’s for the Secondary and Primary sections of the school.

The MR holds, according to legislation, two types of rights: the right of advice (adviesrecht) and the right of approval (instemmingrecht).  Matters in which either right can be used are specified.

The MR’s are regulated by the Wet medezeggenschap op scholen legislation of 1992 and 2007.

Would you like to be a parent MR representative?

Have you always wanted to get a better insight in how the ISH Secondary School is run? Do you feel that with your knowledge and experience you can contribute to it?

Over the summer holidays, think about putting yourself forward as a representative of the parents of the ISH Secondary MR(medezeggenschrapsraad ),the Participation Council of ISH Secondary School.

Parent, student, and teacher representatives meet every 6 weeks with management of the ISH to discuss matters varying from the schoolplan and the budget, to safety, timetable and cleaning. The Participation Council has certain legal rights as defined by the regulations of the Participation Council of the Stichting.

Andy Court and Tjacco Houweling will be leaving the participation council. Two seats will become available after the summer.
Details of the election process will be published in the September Parent Newsletter and all families will also receive a letter explaining the process.
Please do not hesitate to contact Christine Mak, MR Chair(c.mak@ishthehague.nl)
if you would like more information.
