In the Lower School of ISH Primary School we strive to generate a warm, caring atmosphere in which all children can flourish and achieve their full potential. We place a strong emphasis on developing positive partnerships with parents/guardians and students in order to extend children's learning and experiences in school. We believe that it is very important for parents and teachers to work together to support children as they begin to acquire an increasingly broad range of knowledge skills and understanding.
We place a high priority on teaching the whole child. We know that children learn best if they are part of a stimulating and happy environment where academic skills are developed alongside social, physical and emotional skills. Play forms an important part of children's early learning and we structure their play to help them develop their language, social skills and understanding of the world.
All members of our school community encourage children to work and play alongside each other happily and harmoniously. Linguistic and cultural differences between children are recognised and celebrated throughout ISH. We provide exciting, interesting learning experiences, which build upon individual children’s strengths and interests. We also ensure that all children are given opportunities to develop their independence.
Our ultimate aim is to give all our children the confidence and enthusiasm to become life-long learners.
Before your child joins the Lower School you will be invited to attend a meeting, at which you will have the opportunity to:
· Meet the staff who will be working with your child;
· Find out about the day to day running of the school;
· Look around the classrooms;
· Ask questions;
· Find out about how to prepare your child for starting school.
You will also be invited to bring your child to a pre-school visit which will give him / her an opportunity to look around the class they will be joining and meet their new teacher.
