The International School of The Hague Music Centre

The International School is proud to be continuing in the same tradition as the 'The Cecilia International Music School' who have built up an enviable reputation as a centre of excellence for private music lessons.

Today the many concerts, Eisteddfod competition and successful examinations continuing at the ISH, all demonstrate how enjoyable and lively music can be.

Individual Instrumental Lessons

Lessons on most instruments and voice can be arranged either at school, at the teacher’s studio or (subject to availability) in your home. Lessons can begin at any time during the first two semesters of the school year.

The instrumental and vocal music teachers of ISH are carefully selected for their skill and dedication. To maintain a high standard lessons are normally individual lessons of minimally a half hour. Group lessons can be arranged in exceptional cases.

Examinations are optional. They are available from Initial (beginners) through 8 grades to Diploma level. Both Trinity College of London and Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations are available.

Concerts, ensembles and workshops

During the school year there will be many opportunities for musicians to perform together, including the 'Eisteddfod' annual music competition and the ISH Arts Festival.

The International Youth Orchestra (IYO)

Conductor: Sophie Zaaijer

The IYO is a group of young musicians, aged approximately between 11 and 18, who attend the various international schools located in and around The Hague.

The orchestra began in September 2001 as a special project by parents from these international schools.

Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings from 19.00 - 21.00 in the Theatre at the International School of The Hague.

The International Youth Choir (IYC)

The IYC began in September 2004.  It is aimed at giving members of the international schools, (and internationally inclined Dutch singers) between the ages of 14 and 18, a chance to sing together.

Membership is preceded by a singing audition and an interview. Singers will also undergo an annual evaluation.
