Early Years explore our world

Early Years One have been finding out about ‘habitats’ as part of their current IPC unit ‘Our World’. They have been exploring the idea that ‘living things are suited to the habitat where they live’.

This led us to consider food chains and the children explored the relationship between different living things in our Green Space, placing them into a chain to show what each eats. We also took the opportunity to talk to Year 3, through Google Meet, as they are experts on food chains, having just finished their unit on ‘Saving the World’, where they explored food chains in a variety of habitats.

We were able to meet 3B through ‘Google Meet’ and the class shared their understanding of the different parts of a food chain and helped the EY1 children to see that each habitat has its own food chains.

It was also a great way to be able to use our new technology skills to enable the children to still learn from each other, even when we can’t be together!
