Libraries at ISH

The Primary and Secondary libraries of ISH aim to foster a lifelong love of reading in all students and to help them develop the skills they need to navigate a complex world of information.

Primary Library

Our mission is to inspire and encourage a lifelong love of reading and learning.

We do this by ensuring the Primary Library is a warm and welcoming space that provides resources and activities to help your child(ren) become curious and effective users of information.

Our library collection currently has over 30.000 books including picture books, magazines, graphic novels and non-fiction books. The Home and Identity Languages collection currently represents 48 languages and our IPC collection supports all units of inquiry. Furthermore, the library also provides access to digital resources available across both primary and secondary school.

Our passionate and experienced primary library staff maintain a regularly updated and developed collection that meets high standards of quality and factual content. Throughout their important primary years, we support students in their weekly library lessons with choosing books for both pleasure and for the development of essential research skills.

“There are many little ways to enlarge your world.  Love of books is the best of all.” – Jacqueline Kennedy

Secondary Library

The physical and electronic collections of the secondary library aim to foster curiosity, creativity and connectedness in our students. Our extensive and constantly updated resources support their academic needs, encourage them to use quality resources for research and inspire personal interests as your child(ren) expand their understanding of the world around them.

The library currently has approximately 25,000 items in print and ebook format as well as magazines and DVD’s for curriculum support. The library also subscribes to a number of online databases to facilitate research across the curriculum.

As a large international school with a diverse student base, our mother tongue literature resources are growing, currently supporting 20 languages with plans to expand that number soon.

Our team of highly qualified and experienced library staff provide an inspiring environment where students can find the resources and support for their reading and research needs. Aside from the impressive collections of physical texts, the library space includes study areas for students working on projects which require individual focus and for small groups taking part in collaborative work.

Students can also search the library portal for resources, recommended reading lists and guides on how to get the best from library services. Furthermore, both ISH students and staff can access the library portal for information on services and access to online resources.

The library is open every day from 8.15am to 5.30pm.
