The PlastISH Machines Have Arrived!
Posted 22/02/2019 14:18

The four machines that we ordered arrived last Wednesday and we are very proud of this achievement.

PlastISH was initiated by two senior students (Simeng Li and Iris Nogueroles Langa) as part of their CAS Project back in February 2018. The aim was to recycle the school’s plastic waste into useful products. Although the team had a plastic shredder (built by Simeng) which breaks the plastic into tiny pieces, the remaining machines were needed to mould the tiny pieces. Funding for the machines began in May 2018 and the order was placed in October 2018.

Although the principal agreed to cover the remaining amount, an incredible €1158 came from our GoFundMe donors and the money kickstarted our project and transformed it into something meaningful. We did not only receive support from parents and staff at ISH but from different donors in the Netherlands, Spain and China. As an international school, it was wonderful to see this sense of community.

Thank you to all parents and staff at ISH who made this possible! All donors will be receiving a small gift once the team has experimented with the machines :)

The team is currently busy setting everything up so that the machines can be used to recycle the school’s plastic waste into creative products. Stay tuned!
