"Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going." – Rita Mae Brown
Last Wednesday, May 29th, the "Pueblo Español" and the German "Sprachdorf" took place at ISH.
Spanish and German Acquisition students of Year 7 and Year 8 visited their village during one lesson and practised their language skills in various situations with native and near-native speakers from higher year groups. The role plays were, for example, ordering food in a restaurant, sharing information about dishes from their home countries, talking about their holidays and booking trips, meeting with people in cafes, discussing activities at school and giving information about their favourite movie.
The students were excited and very engaged and applied their skills and their cultural understanding successfully. During their lunch break they all connected by sharing various kinds of food and dishes they had brought to school. Thank you for your support from home!
