Climate Strike from a Student's Perspective
Posted 06/12/2019 16:38

As you know the climate is in danger, and it is our duty as the next generation to save it. Of course, our school is already very eco-friendly BUT there is still room for improvement.

We are a group of students who took the initiative to take action! We decided that we would start off by making sure our school was aware of this climate crisis, so we decided to raise awareness by joining G.I.N (Global Issues Network) and by making an Instagram account for our group @greeningtheish.

This caught the attention of an internationally known organization called FFF (Fridays For Future). They later messaged us to request that our school partake in a strike happening later in that week. It was a huge challenge to try and organize our school to participate in a week as we had yet to talk to teachers, staff and ask for government permission.

With hard determination it is our proud duty to inform you that we attended the strike (together with a few others) and that we will continue striving for a better future for all, the generation before us, our generation, and the generation coming.

We need to let people know that the ISH will not stand quietly and that we will fight for our future. These are a few images that were taken on the strike:

We had fun! We went through the cold, we went through warm, but most importantly, we made our point and proved we would and will fight.

Thanks to: Afia Naqvi, Luzia Kudelka, Lucie Audyova, Ayaka Veth, Sam Dilling, Ana Sofia White, Sophia Middleton and Éamonn Ó Súilleabháin for joining and fighting for our future!
