On 21th-23th February 2020 five students from ISH represented our school at the Junior Mathematics Competition organised by the International Schools Mathematics Teachers Foundation (ISMTF). There were 200 participants from more than 30 International Schools across Europe. Members of our team were Stephanie Sepers, Jennifer Cho, Konstantin Gospodinov, Jasper van Dongen and Marko Zivkovic accompanied by their teachers, Mrs. Sara Brouwer (team coach) and Mr. Petar Ogrizovic.
The first day we spent exploring Vienna and a wonderful Natural History Museum. On the second day we had an individual competition in the morning and a team competition in the afternoon. Both of these took place at the Mathematics Faculty of the University of Vienna. On Sunday we enjoyed a scavenger hunt in the historical center of Vienna. Our task was to solve mathematical problems, visit 6 tourist attractions around the city, take a group photo and run back to the University.
Our best result was Jennifer, who came up 24th at the individual competition.
"I really enjoyed being able to do math with students around the world." (Jasper)
"Not only was it a great experience in the sense that I was able to compete at a very high level, but I was also able to make many new friends from all over Europe." (Marko)
