Success for the Varsity Rugby Team in their first Rugby ISST Trophy Tournament.

The Varsity Rugby Boys made history by competing in their first ISST Rugby Trophy Tournament. An excellent performance by the team, winning 3 games and only losing 1. The team were tied for 1st place with FIS and TASIS but unfortunately lost out on the gold medal on points. The team ended up in 3rd place and came away with the Bronze medal. An amazing accomplishment by a team who only started this year. Congratulations to Mr Matenga and his team. Further congratulations to Lenny, Nour, Christoff and Cedric who all made the 'All Tournament Team'.

The Silverbacks Gyms were packed and the atmosphere was electric at the Girls Varsity D2 ISST Basketball Championships.

An AMAZING performance by the Varsity Girls Basketball Team as they dominate the ISST D2 Basketball Championships and beat rivals BSN in the final 33 - 47. The girl's team are now promoted to D1 next season. A huge congratulations to Ms Adam and her awesome team who put on a show for the packed Silverbacks Gyms. To win any ISST is a great achievement but to win an ISST on your home floor, in front of the hundreds of supporters, is a rare occasion and one that will go down in ISH History. A massive congratulations to Alara and Blanca who were also selected for the 'All-Tournament' Team. Well done to all!

From the 2nd to the 4th of March our enthusiastic students embraced a mathematical adventure in the very beautiful (and freezing) Warsaw, Poland. Six of our most remarkable and hard-working students took part in a very demanding Maths competition: the International Schools Maths Teacher Foundation Senior Maths Competition (ISMTF).

There was time to do Maths but also to learn about the repair of the Hubble Telescope in an incredible 3D IMAX documentary narrated by Matt Damon. I would like to thank all of parent's support but, if you'll allow me, my biggest thank you will have to go to our incredible team: Elizaveta, Iris, Simeng, Wendy, Shafi and Mark.

We are already working for next year's competition, which will be in Vienna and I bet what is left of my hair that next year we will bring an award home because of the incredible work that this team is already planning.

Year 8 students went to the Esscher Museum on Friday 9 February. It was a combined trip between the Maths department and the Art department.

One of the main reasons we were going to the Escher museum was to see the wonders created by the great artist Maurits Cornelis Escher- a truly phenomenal artist.

Another of our intentions was to get inspired by his paintings to make our own tessellations. "A tessellation of a flat surface is the tiling of a plane using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps. In mathematics, tessellations can be generalized to higher dimensions and a variety of geometries."

We saw the different techniques he used and how he put his imagination into the paper. We also took a photo in a room which had a higher side and a deeper side. This made the heights of different children appear out of proportion. The kids loved it!
