Learning Support Specialist Secondary (1 FTE)

Start date: 1 December 2018

The Learning Support Specialist calls for an individual who is able and prepared to provide support to students. This individual will report to the Learning Support Coordinator.

The Learning Support Specialist, through the guidance and direction of the department coordinator will:

  • work with students, both directly and indirectly in small group setting, whole group, and/or within the regular classroom as needed.
  • develop the Student Support Plans (SSP’s) for individualized learning needs, implement the SSP, and use diagnostic information obtained from tests and other assessment procedures to update SSPs as needed.
  • Provide written and oral consultation to school staff, school based teams and parents on individual behavior and learning strategies and recommendations.
  • Employ evidenced based best practices and instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting school wide student support objectives.
  • Attend staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and carry out non-instructional duties as required or assigned.
  • Consult with teachers and conduct student focused classroom observations to assist in the implementation of classroom differentiation and accommodations which support students in accessing the curriculum and assessments.
  • Use assessment data to develop and refine explicit literacy and numeracy skill development goals and identify and implement techniques for monitoring progress.
  • Commit to continual professional growth, actively participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Minimum bachelor level qualification with specific endorsements relevant to Learning Support.
  • Proven experience supporting students with learning differences within a school environment to assist with curriculum and assessment accessibility.
  • Willingness to explore, identify and implement evidenced based curricular and best practices to enhance student curriculum and assessment accessibility.

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in Special Educational Needs, Learning Difficulties or comparable.
  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary student support teams
  • Experience in RTI (Response to Intervention Multi-Tier model)
  • Experience in PBIS (Positive Behavior Supports)
  • Experience in the Explicit Instructional Model

Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess effective communication skills and relates well with all students, teachers, and support staff.
  • Good organizational and administration skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and also work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to assess, record, plan, set goals, evaluate progress and produce reports and explicit teaching techniques relating to student needs.
  • IT skills relevant to supporting students with additional educational needs
  • Demonstrates a willingness to be committed to several tasks as required, and manage time well to ensure quality outcomes.

Director of Operations/Conrector Bedrijfsvoering (1 FTE)

 

Start date: 1 January 2019 or sooner if possible. The contract will be a temporary contract of one year with a prospect to a permanent contract after a successful evaluation.

Responsibilities:

• Managing the school domains; building, finance, security, reception, admissions and the health department;

• Establishing and maintaining a long-range investment plan for domains, e.g. maintenance plan for grounds and facilities, and ICT long-term investment plan;

• Management of personnel within the domains: 27 FTE, including annual performance goal setting and appraisal;

• Commissioning a maintenance programme for buildings and grounds;

• Commissioning and managing projects; 

• Providing a solution-driven and positive working environment that contributes to the realisation of the objectives of the school;

• Health and safety policy; coordination of ARBO matters  together with the “Preventiemedewerkers”;

• Work closely with different teams within the Stichting Het Rijnlands Lyceum;

• Advising the leadership team on operational school policies;

• Translating the strategic policy of the school for the various aspects of operations;

• Supporting the school management in financial and economic matters, planning and control.

The appointment is initially for period of one year (according to the CLA Secondary/CAO Voortgezet Onderwijs). After a positive appraisal, your contract will be changed in to a contract for an indefinite period of time. The position as such is placed on Scale 13. Scale range from €4199 - €5859 gross per month (fulltime) depending on qualifications and experience.

In addition, you will receive a 8% holiday bonus, a year- end bonus (7.4%), a contribution towards travel expenses and the ABP pension scheme. Timetabler (1 FTE)

Start date: Immediate start

Job Purpose/Summary:
The timetabler will report to the principal. The person in this position will be responsible for the operational management of ISH’s timetabling function, including the management and utilization of the timetable software. This role requires excellent organizational ability in all aspects of operational planning and timetable production. The job is demanding and requires the ability to work independently and in a team with a high degree of professionalism.

Timetabling key tasks:

  • Work on the production of the ISH timetable, working with colleagues to proactively and
  • Accurately create, maintain and update the timetable and timetable database to reflect accurate activities, rooms, and rescheduled classes.
  • Ensure the production of a timely and accurate timetable.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and implement dynamic solutions to existing issues.
  • Monitor and process requests for leave and cover for all academic staff.
  • Liaise with the other staff to effectively manage the timetable by providing administrative support in the production, administration and development of the timetable.
  • Enter timetable data onto UNTIS and other necessary school systems.
  • Other relevant duties as deemed appropriate within the context of the role

Skills and Knowledge 
Required:

  • Experience of working with timetabling databases.
  • Advanced level of MS office skills including Microsoft Word and Excel

Head Librarian (1 FTE)

Start date: 1 November 2018

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a pedagogical leader for the promotion of effective student inquiry and concept-based learning across the primary and secondary schools
  • Work closely with Teachers, Subject Coordinators, Subject Area Leaders and Deputy Heads to ensure the libraries actively support student inquiry for all subjects and all ages
  • Line management of all library staff (currently 4), plus volunteers
  • Manage both Primary and Secondary libraries (located in the same building)
  • Manage the annual library budgets
  • Manage the textbook resources for all Secondary school departments

Tasks include:

  • Leads the library staff in providing excellent library services to the whole school
  • Ensures that the physical and online library spaces are safe, welcoming, user-friendly and stimulating
  • Promotes the library and reading to all students and school staff
  • Works with teaching staff to raise information literacy and research skill levels across the school
  • Sets policies regarding the circulation and collection development of library collections
  • Together with Secondary School Subject Area Leaders manages the textbook resources (orders, processes and distributes them using the library database)

Required qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in managing a school library and library staff
  • A library degree
  • Experience in liaising with teachers to deliver information skills and research instructions fo all grade levels
  • English language knowledge at native or near-native level

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior work experience an educational/academic environment
  • Confidence in administering the library management system (Softlink Oliver) and other online library resources
  • Knowledge of current library developments and strong enthusiasm to keep up-to-date with them
  • Excellent knowledge of children’s and teen literature
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and being highly pro-active in working with staff and students
  • Excellent organizational demonstrating a clear understanding of priorities and delegation
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
