ICT Staff member (1.0 Fte)

Starting date: January 2018 or soon thereafter

The International School of The Hague (ISH) is seeking to employ a suitable ICT staff member who has also some audio-visual knowledge and experience. The position is an exciting opportunity to work with many stakeholders in the school community.

It is the expectation of the candidate to be an integral member of the ICT-team that will assist staff and students with issues relating to hardware and software of our system.

ICT-component:

  • Trouble shoots hardware problems for Apple / Windows laptops and desktops and iPads.Manage all Apple devices with a mobile device management system.
  • Works in liaison with the ICT coordinator and our external ICT company.
  • Remedies hardware malfunctions in response to reported problems;
  • Performs regular consultations with ICT coordinator and ICT assistant about ongoing matters.
  • Consults with the ICT coordinator and the external ICT Company about the support to be provided.

The key areas of the role are:

  • Specialist subject knowledge of the corporate network and hardware and software configuration in use;
  • Specialist subject knowledge of management procedures; (rules and regulations; how to behave on internet e.g.;
  • Able to assist in maintaining the school website if needed;
  • Understanding the potential uses and the activities to be supported to staff how to use of a laptop, digital screens; touch screen tv’s etc;
  • Installing software;
  • Remedying malfunctions;
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment and able to assist staff with the functionality of this;

Skills and experience needed:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; the ability and confidence to communicate effectively and liaise with various stakeholders, including staff and students
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure; ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with others as well as independently
  • English required and a working knowledge of Dutch preferable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive work ethic.
  • Evidence of keeping up-to-date in their field of expertise and openness to continuous professional development.
  • Working hours:
  • 40 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks)
  • Working hours 08:00 hrs – 16:30 hrs
  • Holidays may not be taken during the school term time
  • Flexiblity is required with regards to working hours (for example occasional early evening sessions)

A temporary appointment with a view to a permanent contract if all the conditions are met. The position is based on the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Secondary Education. Scaling: OOP staff, Scale 5. The exact step depends on the relevant background and experience. (CAO VO)

School Counsellor - Secondary School

School Counsellor
Start date: As soon as possible

Overview of the role:

  • To provide a high-quality counselling (individual and group) service to students experiencing a wide range of emotional problems.
  • To provide support, guidance and advice to parents, careers and the school.
  • To observe confidentiality and to support the school’s endeavour to provide excellent teaching and learning for all students.
  • Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people

General duties:

  • Prepare and give workshops for staff, students and parents.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental protocols.
  • Develop and maintain the counselling pages of the ISH website/groupspace.
  • Maintain the Counselling noticeboard and other publicity materials.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings and participate in any team training days.
  • Take responsibility for own professional training and development.

Counselling tasks:

Provide counselling to students;

  • Individual counselling sessions with students.
  • Group counselling sessions with students.
  • Develop counselling plans for each student.
  • Keeping a log for each student and reporting sessions (keeping files).
  • Work with external professionals where necessary, including referring students for additional support outside school.
  • Update and maintain records on all counselling students' progress.
  • Contact with relevant school staff via e-mail and face-to-face meetings to gain feedback and share information about students' needs and progress.

Professional/personal skills and characteristics required:

  • The ability to develop and promote a positive relationship with students.
  • Good interpersonal skills, and strong listening and communication skills.
  • A non-judgemental outlook and a willingness to work with all kinds of people. A sensitivity to the importance of cultural differences and international communities.
  • Personal experience of living internationally.
  • To manage appropriate professional boundaries in the relationships with students and their families.
  • An understanding of your own attitudes and responses.
  • A belief that all clients are able to make positive changes
  • An understanding of confidentiality issues and ability to implement the confidentiality policy.
  • An ability to cope with emotional situations and to remain calm under pressure.
  • An innovative, enthusiastic, energetic and flexible approach.
  • Collaborative working style and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English. A working knowledge of Dutch would be an advantage.

Qualifications/knowledge/experience

  • Relevant counselling qualification, minimum HBO level, or an equivalent international qualification (must be recognized in the Netherlands).
  • Experience with the needs of high school age students and their families.
  • To keep up to date with development in the field of counselling.

Working hours:

  • 1 FTE
  • Duration of contract: One year with the intention to extend to a permanent contract

Recruitment and Selection administrative assistant (0.5 fte)
Start date: As soon as possible until the 31st August 2018

Overview of the role:

  • Establishes recruiting requirements by liaising with Subject Area Leaders, timetabler and the Principal
  • Ensures that job descriptions are clear and according to requirements
  • Utilizes different sources for recruitment.
  • Places job advertisements on appropriate websites;
  • Use social media and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates;
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies
  • Manages/coordinates the recruitment and selection process and acts as a point of contact to all parties during the selection process (e-mails candidates, informs Subject Area Leaders, is contact person for recruitment agencies)
  • Maintains tracking system of all applicants and their place in the recruitment process, keeps recruiters and applicants informed throughout; avoids duplication by checking all applicants with the primary recruiter
  • Monitors and reviews open applications, screening those that are possible future applicants and informing those who are not; creates a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need, and contacts them to find out availability as positions become available.
  • Conducts pre-screening of applicants, by reviewing applicant qualifications to job requirements
  • Ensures that all necessary safeguarding procedures are followed (reference checks & suitability statements)
  • Arranges management interviews by coordinating schedules; arranges travel, lodging, and assists with program for onsite interviews;
  • Informs all relevant internal stakeholders of applicant appointment

Required:

  • Experience with recruitment & selection processes
  • Relevant experience with administrative work
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both spoken and in writing
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel and Apple
  • Accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to be deployed in various other (HR administrative) processes

Working hours:

  • 0.5 FTE
  • Duration of contract: Until August 31st 2018
