Psychology Teacher 0.5 FTE - Secondary School

The International School of The Hague is a highly successful, innovative and energetic semi-public school located in a state-of-the-art building in an area of natural beauty on the edge of the city of The Hague, near Kijkduin.

The entire school currently has 1900 students and hosts over 85 nationalities with teachers from around the world. The school is divided into Primary and Secondary with a Principal for each section. Psychology Teacher

Start date: August 2018

For candidates offering only this subject this is a 0.5 FTE appointment anticipated to increase in the second year.

Candidates offering a second subject (e.g. theory of knowledge, another humanities or social sciences subject, English etc.) could potentially have 1.0 FTE.

Overview of the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join our individuals and societies department. Psychology is a well-established subject in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) and, from August 2018, is being introduced as a taught subject at our school (VWO equivalent). We are looking for an applicant to lead the development of this subject. The school will provide support in terms of IB specific professional training and time allocation for developing the curriculum (in addition to the teaching time).

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Have a first degree teaching qualification (eerste graads)
  • Have high standards of subject knowledge necessary to design the new course. This will be in line with the IB framework for the course and assessment requirements
  • Set up the subject in our school; this means working on designing, developing the curriculum and teaching it
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other colleagues and with the parents and careers of students
  • Set and maintain high expectations of the academic performance and behaviour of all students
  • Use knowledge of each student to produce clear, informed and sensitive reports
  • Manage students’ behavior constructively and respectfully
  • Provide timely, accurate and constructive feedback (verbal and/or written) on students’ attainment, progress, strengths and areas for improvement

The successful applicant will preferably:

  • Have knowledge of teaching the IB DP curriculum although full training will be provided
  • Be confident in using ICT to enhance learning experiences, where appropriate

Working hours:

  • For candidates offering only this subject this a 0,5 FTE appointment anticipated to increase in the second year.
  • Candidates offering a second subject (e.g. theory of knowledge, another humanities or social sciences subject, English etc.) could potentially be a 1.0 FTE.
  • Duration of contract: starting August 2018, with the prospect to a permanent contract (depending on qualifications and performance)

Overview of the role:

The International School of The Hague seeks a well-qualified English Language and Literature teacher committed to delivering high quality secondary education for students from around the world. The ISH is a friendly and dynamic environment in which young people can discover their full potential in a truly international context. We deliver the IB MYP and the IB DP programme in the Secondary School.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. As well as planning and teaching high quality lessons, you will also be developing curriculum and maintaining administration relevant to your role.

Required:

  • Qualified Teacher of English with at least 1 years teaching experience
  • An excellent team player both within the department and across the school, willing to work collaboratively and support ongoing development of the English department and whole school.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to teaching and wider professional practice.
  • Flexibility and the desire to be a part of a dynamic school community.

Preferred:

  • Confident with use of new technologies and understanding of how to use technology as part of the learning process.
  • Willingness to be involved in extra-curricular activities.
  • Experience of the MYP programme an advantage.

Working hours:

  • [0.8.] FTE
  • Duration of contract: Aug to Dec temporary due to it being a maternity leave contract.

EAL Teacher 1.0 Fte - Primary School

EAL Teacher (Primary Classroom Teacher ) 0.1 Fte

Start date: 1 August 2018

EAL teachers work closely together in a strong EAL team and they are planning collaboratively with their colleagues in their designated year group. We welcome applications from teachers qualified to teach across the Primary age range, including Early Years as well as having certification in EAL teaching.

Desired Qualifications:

  • has a Bachelor in Primary Education or PGCE plus QTS (or equivalent);
  • has an additional EAL qualification(s);
  • preferably has experience with or knowledge of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC);
  • has the ability to speak and write in English at a near native level;
  • has experience with teaching children from the age of 4 - 12 years old;
  • is able to develop and adapt the curriculum and lesson plans to meet the changing needs of the children;
  • is flexible, and has good time management and is capable of dealing with the varied aspects of the job.

Working Hours:

  • 1.0 Fte
  • Working hours 8:00-16:00

We offer:

The position is based on the Dutch collective labor agreement (CAO PO) for primary education, Scale LA. Scaling will take place depending on relevant background and experience. The contract offered to the successful applicant will be for one year. After one year, a permanent contact will be offered after obtaining a Dutch teaching qualification and a good performance. The maximum LA scale is 15 and this is gross Eur 3.482,- per month based on a full time FTE.
