Ana Valero Betrán (violin/viola)
Ana Valero-Betrán is a freelance viola player, performing as a soloist and chamber musician in various European countries. Her repertoire, both solo and collaborative, spans from the baroque style to 21st century music. She has recently completed her Master's degree in the Netherlands, having studied under Julia Dinerstein and Mikhail Kugel. In addition to her chamber music performances, she teaches violin and viola at the International School of The Hague and participates with several orchestras such as Sinfonia Rotterdam and Residentie Kamerorkest of The Hague. Since 2013, she coaches the Delfts Symphonie Orkest viola section and is a jury member of the Florence Concours in The Hague.
Born in Huesca, Spain, in 1986, Valero-Betrán started her musical education at age of six. She fell in love with the deep sound of the viola when she was eight year old. At the age of 22 she graduated from Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (Zaragoza, Spain), obtaining the highest grades in Viola and Chamber Music.
An avid chamber musician, she became a pupil of the Casals Quartet during the four years of her first bachelor. She has also received advice from Gordan Nikolic, Benzion Shamir and the Jerusalem Quartet among many others. Valero-Betrán has participated in several solo and chamber music festivals like Aurora Chamber Music in Sweden and the Academia Nugoresa de Bonas Artese in Italy. She has performed chamber music concerts and recitals for viola and piano in Russia, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia, Croatia, Sweden and Italy.
As a soloist, she has also taken master classes with Lawrence Power, Maxim Risanov, Alexander Zemtsov, David Quiggle, and Michael Zemtsov among others. She obtained awards in several international competitions taking the first prize at the International Competition Anemos in Rome, in 2011 and at the Internet Music Competition in Belgrade, in 2014; and 1st prize (1° Premio Assoluto) at the Don Vincenzo Vitti International Competition in Italy in 2014.
