Irma Kort (Oboe)
Irma is a solo oboe player in The Ballet Orchestra (Amsterdam), The Netherlands Wind Ensemble and Starvinsky Orkestar. She has worked as a solo english horn player in the BBC Symphony Orchestra and as a free-lancer in most Dutch orchestras and ensembles. At the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague she is one of the teachers developing ‘Basis’, a new music education format for young children (8 tot 10). She is also the founder of Club Ghazal, giving concerts and developing early music learning in The Hague.
She has played and given masterclasses and workshops at music academies in the USA, Jordan, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina and on the Westbank.
Next to her orchestral job and work as a free-lance Oboe player, Irma has always found teaching very important. To bring across her expertise in music to younger generations and pass on her love for music and for the oboe.
Her classes are technique based, in order to make personal musical development possible. She teaches beginners to young professionals (either finishing their degrees at the conservatoire or preparing for auditions).
