The IB career Related Programme (IBCP)

In Years 12 and 13, the ISH offers the International Baccalaureate Career related program (IBCP).

The IBCP is a rigorous and unique academic programme that offers students between the age of sixteen and nineteen a different learning environment than that of the older and more established IB Diploma Programme (DP). The IBCP provides a balance of academic and career-related education, which allows students the opportunity to gain a valuable qualification that will enable them to attend universities both here in The Netherlands and the UK, as well as in other countries according to equivalence.

The IBCP is a two-year curriculum which prepares students for university, apprenticeships and employment.

What the IBCP offers students

The IBCP is a very exciting applied learning course that will enable students to acquire skills that many people do not learn until they begin university.

With the IBCP at ISH, we will be able to promote access to an IB education, to satisfy a worldwide trend of demand for qualifications that combine academic with career-related achievement, to broaden student options, to challenge and support our students every step of the way, and to ensure that our students are uniquely prepared to serve, lead and succeed.

The IBCP develops students to be academically strong, skilled in a practical field, critical and ethical thinkers, self-directed, collaborative, resilient and determined, confident and assured, caring and reflective, and inquisative.

What the course entails

Students take written examinations at the end of their IB Diploma Programme courses which are marked by external IB examiners.

The components of the CP core and Career related studies are assessed internally, by the school, and moderated externally by IB and the Business and Technology Educational Council (BTEC).

The IBCP is comprised of three elements:

  1. The IBCP Core
    • Personal and Professional Skills
    • Language Development
    • Service Learning
    • Reflective Project
  2. Academic courses chosen from among the IBDP subjects
  3. Career-related studies
