Sinterklaas Visits Our School: A Morning of Joy, Surprises, and Laughter

On Friday, 5 December our school welcomed a very special guest: Sinterklaas, accompanied by his lively team of helpers including Rommel Piet and Pietje Paniek.  He arrived on his favourite train again. Everybody was very excited and we were all waving to Sint and his Secondary Helpers Crew, accompanied by all the Sinterklaas songs coming from the organ.

The morning was filled with the familiar Sinterklaas songs, excited whispers in the corridors, and faces lighting up as classrooms prepared to receive their visitors. From the moment Sinterklaas stepped into the hall, there was a warm, festive atmosphere. His calm presence created a sense of wonder for the youngest children and a pleasant nostalgia for older students and teachers.

EY to Year 3 students had fun filled assemblies in the aula, where Sint read from his book about the learning that takes place in all of the year groups and Sinterklaas enjoyed the beautiful singing and dancing. Rommel Piet brought chaos in the most charming way. Paniek Piet, ever the dramatic one, created several amusing moments by panicking that the train with Sinterklaas might arrive too late  and by losing important items like his hat and his sack with pepernoten.

During the assembly a group of 25 guitarists from upper school performed Sinterklaas songs. Sinterklaas was very impressed by so much talent. Outside on the Triangle the students enjoyed a ride on the Sinterklaas train. The mist cleared to reveal perfect, crisp weather, and all you could see were smiley, happy faces from students and their teachers. We’re grateful to Sinterklaas, Rommel Piet, and Pietje Paniek for bringing laughter, gentle surprises, and a sense of togetherness to our school. Their visit reminded us that celebrations are stronger when we share them, and that a little playful chaos can become an opportunity for learning and connection. More photos to follow soon!

Tot volgend jaar Sinterklaas!
