A Year 10 student at The International School of The Hague, Anay used creativity, research, and storytelling to spotlight the critical role wetlands and peatlands play in combatting climate change, protecting biodiversity , and filtering water.

"Peatlands cover only 3% of Earth's land surface, yet store nearly 30% of all soil carbon."

This powerful fact inspired Anay to raise awareness about these often-overlooked ecosystems and explore sustainable solutions like paludiculture.
